 Master Cleanse
Back to Full Blog

Ok, everyone was interested in this Master Cleanse link so I thought I would start a blog that we could all read each day for support.

http://www.falconblanco.com/health/cleansing/lemoncleanse.htm

This should give you plenty of information.

My sister has now lost something like 14 pounds in the past 5 days. I am planning on starting next Monday since we have some eating engagements this weekend. Once I start, I hope to continue w/o interruption.

I was actually going to start on Tuesday after I heard how well she was doing. Not only that, but I was going to start with the salt water drink to "do it right". Needless to say, this is something one must work themself up to. I got up at 5:00 am, thinking I was going to drink my 32 oz. salt water drink and then lie back down while the little cocktail "did its job." Can I just tell you one thing? I think maybe I am just a wus because I took one good look at that 32 oz. bottle of salt water and laid back down. I think I have a discipline problem. Jamal says I just wasn't "committed" enough to the task. So, simply for that reason alone, I am going to "commit" next Monday--watch and see. In order for any life change or diet to work, I guess accountability is our best tool sometimes

Ok, let's all jump in and give our progress reports, day by day, and blow by blow. I think this will be a real fun thing for us to all do in supporting one another's dieting or life change endeavours. Has anyone already tried the Lemon Cleanse / Master Cleanse? I don't want to call it a diet, because it is a whole lot more.

This two sites are also great!
http://www.cyberclass.net/mastercleanser.htm
http://www.curezone.com/forums/

The ones on parasites scared the crap (pardon the pun) out of me!!!! BUTT, better out than in is what I say. If I ever run across anything that even resembles a worm or parasite, I will be sure to share.

I don't know what my fascination with the entire toxic cleansing thing is as of late, but it is so daggone interesting whenever you think about the fact that everything that doesn't pass through the bowels is actually re-absorbed into the bloodstream, hence illness and disease occurs. Makes sense, huh?

Ok, Ladies, don't leave me hanging!!!!!! We all need to find some girlfriend time soon whenever we aren't all doing some type of either cleansing or diet.

You are so motivated! Impressive.

I am not convinced I am prepared to begin any diet/exercise/cleanse program until after the first of the year. I've done the RenewLife cleanse before, and although I lost a small amount of weight, it really did clean out the pipes and made me feel as though I was absorbing more of the nutrients from the foods I was eating.

For the time being, I will commit to making better choices through the end of the year. I started this morning on the run, but managed to grab 2 pieces of string cheese for breakfast on the road. In looking over all the programs I've been on over the years I think the eating plan that works best for me is based on the book "Lean Bodies" by Cliff Sheats. It's based on the "eating more to increase your metabolism" philosophy. It's what I used when I was working with my trainer, so I know it works when coupled with working out. Not sure how it will do when I'm floundering in that area, LOL!

My biggest challenge in any way of life program would have to be planning. Somehow it seemed easier when I was single and the kids were younger and not as involved, but I know there has to be a way to make it happen now. I just need to find it.

Those are my thoughts for the day! I will spend the remainder of the day dreaming of playing hookie and trying not to give in to the PMS cravings for fries with extra salt, salt and vinegar chips, and a pound of M&Ms.

Later!

Janet--Patricia has me so motivated--she finished her first day and even did the salt water flush. Hopefully, she will put her blog on this site. I asked her to so we could kind of monitor the progress. Nicky was asking me about it last night and so was Georgia. That is why I thought it would just be easier for everyone to check out what/where everyone else was, rather than just e-mail back and forth. I think this will be great, especially during the holidays.

I am right thar with you on the Salt & Vinegar Chips--you think I could substitute them, with a diet coke for the salt water flush??????LOL!!!!!!

OK, Billie I would only write on a blog for you. I have been thinking about detoxifying for a while now. my joints are all jammed up and painful, I have no energy, and I snarl at anyone that wants me to do something. Billie, you sent the link and then we went shopping together that night. I watched you get the stuff to do it and thought "naw, I just don't think so" Funny thing was that I got up the next day and told Earl about it and convinced myself to do it. Now you guys know me, in with both feet, not much planning.
I do have the benefit of a husband that watches my back. He went to the store to purchase lemons and is squeezing them for me because he thought the effort on my part deserved the help.
Yesterday I started fasting with the lemonade. For a lot of reasons I chose to wait on the salt water drink until this morning. WOOHOO!!
It does its work with any cramps. The main lesson I learned though DON'T ASSUME YOU ARE SIMPLY GOING TO PASS GAS!
Otherwise, all is well. The lemonade keeps me from getting to gnarly.
I am not looking at this as a means to weight loss however, but as a vehicle to feel good enough to exersize long term the way I need.
btw, Earl has now lost 112 lbs. He says he is waiting for the Guiness cleanse!

I like to fast to a point and then eat very little.
Seems to work slowly.

Well, b/w you and my sister, I am so motivated. If we weren't having dinner with the Martins' on Sunday, I would have already started, but you hate for people to go to a lot of trouble to prepare something for you and then tell them that you were unable to eat it. But first thing Monday morning, I am going to look at that salt water as a big ole bottle of broth!

They say to make sure you get extra rest if possible. My sister said her energy sky-rocketed after the third day. Something about the first 3 days being a big adjustment but after than she said she didn't even feel hungry. I should ask her to post her progress on here, as well. That way Patricia can see where she is -- I think this is Day 5 or 6 for her.

Janet,
I know what you mean by the being single thing--it is so hard to makes different food for each individual person. And it seems like they all want something different. It is working out pretty well right now because we are going into wrestling season, and that means weight maintenance. Jamal won't have me fixing something special for him out of sympathy. He has become pretty low maintenance--just something light & healthy.

We have all been doing the Renew Life Detox, which I think you told me about. It has made us all feel a lot better. It isn't anything really harsh, but I found it fairly cheap on vitacost.com. At Roberts, I paid 29.95 for one kit that should typically last about a month for the average person. Well, everyone in the house wanted to do it, so it was going pretty fast. On Vitacost.com, I think I paid a total (shipping & handling) $41.54 for TWO kits. Keep in mind, this is a two-part program. Morning and Evening. At first, we were adjusting to the dose. We are all at 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening now. Obviously, the more water you drink, the more you flush out. IT is a great way to get started because it is mild in comparison to some of the others. I think it is probably a good idea to do this before jumping into the Master Cleanse.

You are probably right about doing something else before MC but, it shouldn't be a reason not to get in to the MC.
I'm glad to hear your sister has more energy. I feel good, but my energy is low, and that is tough. So far so good.
It will be a challenge today. dd wants to make cream tuna and peas mmmmmmmmmm. I just keep saying it will all be there at the end and I will be better for it.
You are absolutly correct about it all being easier single, no children, etc. Even with husband's full support it is difficult. His rhythms are just so different from mine.

Ok, Summersalad--I am following on your coat tail. I am so glad I have a blow-by-blow. Now I know what to expect. My sister began over the weekend. OMG!!! Cream tuna and peas!!!! See, this will be my obstacle--getting rid of all the good stuff--and not to mention--no food, just drink. But you are so right--it will be there at the end. Funny how just losing 5 pounds can make you feel so much better, imagine if it is 5 pounds of the really BAD stuff

OK, I looked at the website BRIEFLY. Help me out here...Is this a total fast with nothing but the lemonade/salt water? As in, no real food? And I'm supposed to do this a minimum of 10 days???

You guys are really troopers

I loved the renewlife cleanse. So glad you guys are finding it helpful too You guys are going to have to convince me I have the kahones to do the lemoncleanse thing...

Catch up to you later!

I started the Lemonade/Master Clense seven days ago and I am now down 16 lbs. According the the Master Clense Website you can also substitute the salt water with a Laxative Tea, just be sure to do this upon waking in the morning. It is said when you start to eat solid food again to only eat raw vegetable which I totally believe because I thought I would eat some crap meat a few nights ago only to wake up the next morning and see that I had gained THREE LBS BACK! However, I was able to resume where I have left off and continue loosing as long as I added now solid foods to my diet. Some days are hard but it does get easier. The first day is very hard to go without soliday foods, however you will see that each days it does get easier because the cleasing process takes your cravings away, YES EVEN SUGAR!!!!

Janet:
My sister just put her blog on there a few minutes ago as to how it was going for her. Yuppers, no real food. But the weight loss is incredible--you see what she said about eating some "Crap" meat? Pam, I am assuming you meant "Crab" meat--my sister thinks WAYYYY too fast.

But she is doing incredibe, only because she wants to be Mom's favorite. Mom likes you better whenever you are skinny--last year Tina was Mom's favorite because she had lost so much weight. As you can see, it has been a while since I have been mom's fav--LOL!!!!!

Janet,
It says 10 days, but to be sure if all a person can do is 2 or 1 i think you are better off. I will go as long as it is practical. I just needed to unload some gook.

Ok, Billie:

I briefly looked over the website...and you are drinking lemonade and salt water all day instead of food?? (I KNOW I would cheat). LOL How long do you do that for though?

I'm starting EatingforLife again Monday to up my energy. (www.eatingforlife.com). I KNOW Janet knows all about it.

Basically eat six small meals a day. A balance of protein and carbs with two vegetables a day. I have to have high energy working with the kids and when I have boring meetings, I have to smack myself to stay awake.

How many people have done this lemon cleanse and what was your success with it?

SummerSalad (PB) has done it. She started yesterday--you can see her progress. She was actually really good and did the salt water first thing in the morning--I think you are only supposed to do it once a day and then drink the concoction of purified water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup throughout the day. She said yesterday was rather rough but she feels pretty good. This detox is supposed to bring out all the bad stuff that has been laying inside your colon for like YEARS!!!!! My sister is on her 6th day and has lost 16 pounds. She said after the 3rd day, she had a lot of energy. Read the blogs and you can see the progress. I can't wait to see how Summersalad is doing tomorrow. Tonight is testing, you know T & J are bears now. That is what the new 4th degree form represents. So, we are referring to them as Yogi and BooBoo. T told J she didn't wanna be BooBoo because he is the dumb one. HE told her she had to be BooBoo because she was the little one. Yeah, he is so daggone big. First wrestling scrimmage next Wednesday night at LaFayette--family only. It will be interesting how J,R,&A are going to do this year. He only has 4 more pounds to lose, I think A has 3 and R has maybe 3-4. Keep us posted on your diet and give us more info.

Hey Sharnea! Good to hear from your end of the contry.
Little tid bit here since the blog is called TKD moms -- SHE did it, she did it! You all know dd has struggled with breaking the boards, last night she stepped up and broke with the palm heel right off. BC changed her technique at the begining of the cycle and worked it right through to testing. The side kick the first attempt she jammed up. BC stopped her, had her change holders, made breath and focus...
she did it!!

SummerSalad, how's the cleansing going???????????????/ Keep us posted so we all know how effective it is. Kids and I are running over to see TZ's football game. We have been wanting to all season but haven't had anytime. Mr. Warner, Mr. Smyth, and J are getting body paint and planning on surprising him in the middle of 40 degree weather, taking off their shirts "TY", "L", and J called the "ER". Hope they aren't too sick to wrestle this week, but they can't wait to surprise him!!!! So happy about DD.

TZ will be so surprised. That is very cool! Y'all have a fun weekend!

That is the best news that I have heard!!! I am SO PROUD of DD!!!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ (Joce wrote that). Give her a high-5 from Jocelyn and I!!! If I start an ITA school around here, I'll be sure to try to get to one tourny a year to see everyone.

I'll fill everyone in on E4Life and how it goes. The strategy is that you DO plan so that you don't go off of it. I can squeeze 5 min. in before I go to bed.

Does anyone know WHO told Den. G that I was PREGNANT!!!?? I am definitely N-O-T! LOL

Tell BooBoo and Yogi I said Hi. T should be Yogi since she is a higher rank and J just seems more like BooBoo to me. JMO though.

OK, I just ordered another copy of Lean Bodies from Amazon. Not in stock, so it will be a few weeks before I get it. I have an email in to my old trainer to see if he has a copy I can buy immediately. I called Wild Oats, Roberts, JoBeth and B&N and none of them carry it either . Patricia, as soon as I get it I will do a quick review (as in a day) and get it into your hands. I think it will be right up your alley with types of foods it recommends. Supplements are optional, not a necessity, and you can eat like 1800-3500 calories a day!!!

Anywho...I have a family coming to my house in an hour and a half and I can't see the floor, so I'd better get cracking!

ok, we just got back from TZ's football game--it was great, Mr. Warner, Mr. Smyth, and J all wore body paint, painting their faces half red/half black, spray painted their hair red or black and put T, Z, and ! on each of their scrawny little chests and get this: ran up the field yelling!!!! Well, they had a lot of fun supporting TZ's team. It was the last one of the year. They were glad the got to see him play before the season was over. One of those things that you are just glad you went after it was over. It got really cold, raining, spitting snow but seeing TZ play and have fun was great!!!! Girls, I have eaten so much this weekend, it is pathetic!!!! Summersalad, how is the fasting going???????????????????????????? Sharnae, I am so glad we are doing this blog--that way you are able to stay in contact with us all. J, have you tried ebay for the book you are looking for? I will look and see if I can find it.

Who in the heck is Den. G? Are you pregnant???????????? ROFLOL!!!!
You should see the school--it is a mess!!!!! But it will be beautiful once its done. But in the meantime, we are having a lot of fun socializing in a VERY open environment. Well, now I have to get Wonderboy, Mr. Warner, and Mr. Smyth to open gym. I had to take them all home to get s shower to wash off all the hair coloring and body paint before they go to the gym. I swear, I have not stopped with these guys all day. Hey, Summersalad, let us know how the lemoncleanse is going. I am jealous you got to do it before me.

B-Mo, sounds like a great time at TZ's game!

Lexi is babysitting a 5 year old boy from church. We worked in the toddler rooms last night and she brought him home with us to spend the night. She is doing marvelously and I haven't had to offer anything. She has played a multitude of games, played with matchbox cars, and otherwise entertained him, and positively re-directed him without any help from me. I think it has helped that she is in her home and knows where everything is. Now that i know she can do these things it's time to work on implementing them where sister is concerned...yeah, RIGHT, LOL!

Anyhow, it's been good practical experience for her and much better than the time she watched him in his home with 4 others under 5 years old with nothing to entertain them. She's looking forward to the drop-off and the big payday, LOL!

I had my homemade granola this morning. Yum! Patricia, I've been on the Bob's RedMill website browsing this morning too I always have good intentions but follow through is another story.

After church we are going to drop in on my mom and dad for a visit until Jess has swim team practice. Rob is going to pick her up while Lexi and I attend the parent meeting for volleyball and then I will drop her off to her small group. I'm doing stuffed peppers for dinner thanks to Jessica's meal planning for the week, and I'm going through outgrown clothes to give away/donate later this evening.

Have a great day!

WOW, huge week end for all. TZ's game sounds like a blast. How wonderful for him to have that kind of support! For people accused of not going any where, I don't what we're doing. Admittedly we did lay around part of Saturday. DD basking in the glow of broken wood. Then church that night. Today was church, DeSha's for lunch (Agapi had a hot brown, the staff are always amazed she eats the entire plate of it. I gain 15 lbs just sitting next to it.) broadway live at the Opera House to see Hair Spary. It was a good show. The audience here though is so low energy it isn't what it could be. Tommorow, is church, DD has guitar, and TKD for self defense later.
Billie, the down and dirty on where I am and what I have learned.
1. On Friday I decided that I would only go one more day. I was sooo low energy that I couldn't maintain the schedule.
2. The flush both days was GREAT.
3. I got a little nervous, as it occured to me that you were thinking of this as a way to weightloss. It is not. Although flushing is good, it should be a means to the next step. Exercize. There is inevitably a boomerange effect. As your sister experienced eating the "crap meat". The only way to combat it is to mend your broken down metabolism by increasing the out put.
4. I also (as I am not the hermit I often would like to be) thought about the immune system, and it's inability to work efficiently when stripped down. Can't afford to take that chance.
5. Based on all of the above I:
A. Kept my time to 3 days.
B. Did the salt water flush.
C. I started my 4th day with said flush
D. Ate food extremely high in fiber today (1st day back eating)
1. Lovely split pea soup. Hummus on whole grain rolls that I
made. A wedge of red cabbage and an apple.
6. I feel GREAT! I worked out this evening virtually pain free. I
did 3.5 miles on the EFX with a tension of 3 in 45 min. Before
you start laughing folks, that is good for me. Before fasting I
was doing good to get 2 miles in 30 min. And I am looking forward
to tomorrow.

I am now looking forward and am going to try your Renew Life stuff. As soon as my friend J has a moment in her hectic life. I also hope we are the benefiscaries of some of the sorting clothes. >hint< A is walking around in jeans half way up her leg. She grew 4 inches this summer!
Oh, Sharnea, A has been talking alot about J, very cute!
Its a bit of a book, but I wanted you to know what I was thinking. Would I do it again?? Yep! Absolutely! Exactly as I did it this time.
Love to all!

Summersalad, you sound GREAT! I'm so glad you are pain-free and had an awesome workout today. I'm really proud of you! I will have the RenewLife and Omega to you no later than Tuesday, and hopefully some clothes that I didn't get to today

Hairspray sounds awesome! I would have loved to have gone to that (as well as JC Superstar last month!) I also enjoyed hearing about the Trans Siberian Orchestra show from the parents of the boy L babysat for last night. I am living vicariously through others as I plan my budget for the upcoming months of weekend travel for volleyball games and swim meets, LOL!

As usual, I started my day not so bad, then crashed at the end. Homemade high fiber granola for breakfast, turkey on great harvest bread for lunch, a very large stuffed pepper (should have eaten half)with 2 crescent rolls (UGH! UGH!)a clementine and half an asian pear for dinner followed by 4 cookies (2 macadamia white chocolate/2 sugar-made from fundraiser cookie dough)when I sat down for coffee with DH.

BTW, he's sick again. Napped from 11-4 and hit the sack early tonight. Must be nice...anybody here know what that's like?

Nah, didn't think so. That's OK. I still love him

I'm going to be a little crazy tomorrow so I might not check in until later. Have a happy Monday!

Summersalad!
Thanks so much for keeping us posted on the cleanse. It is so interesting to see how effective or not so for each person. That way I know what to expect. I know how you feel though--I felt the same way during Ramadan. Fasting completely is sooo hard. I may report the same thing. I am more interested in the detoxing right now, of course I would LOVE to lose weight, but initially, I am going to go for ridding myself of the toxins--sounds like you did great on the flush!

I am so jealous of you getting to see Hairspray--I wanted to get tickets for Tina and I to see it but we had so many engagements this weekend. I am having to gear up for wrestling season, cooking for my entire family for Thanksgiving and setting up another holiday open house. Getting the house clean in time will be my biggest feat. We went to the Martins' tonight and they actually cooked turkey, dressing, potatoes, green beans, fried apples, rolls--yeah, I think a fast is in order--and oh yeah, pumpkin pie!!! So, you liked the flush, huh? My sister is a real diet soldier!!!!! Unrealistically though. She would eat crap if it meant being thin. I, on the other hand, start weighing in (pardon the pun) the pros and cons.

I am glad everyone had a good weekend. DeSha's----------SummerSalad, you make me sick!!!! YUM! Watch me report back tomorrow that I couldn't make it through lunch--wish me luck.............
LUV YOU GUYS---oh, Sharnae, I figured out DEN G is probably Denotra, huh?????????????????????????????????

Did you guys know Sharnae was pregnant?????????? LOL!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see how you guys are doing tomorrow!!!

Morning, Ladies!!!!!!!
Ok, I wasn't up to the salt water this morning, but I am trudging along with the lemon cleanse. Who knows, I may make it until tonight. It was funny--last night Tina and I were at Meijers and I was getting the last minute bag of lemons and sea salt, both of us were planning on doing this together. I was getting Jamal's tuna packets, fat free yoghurt, apples, clementines--all the stuff to prepare for his first wrestling fat mass testing this week. By the time we were almost finished, I could see the look on Tina's face was less than excited. I looked at her and said, "Honey, I don't really think, particularly according to your school/work schedule, that this diet is the best thing for you--why don't you just do the fresh fruit and vegetable thing?" She said, "no mom--I would feel like a failure." I eventually convinced her that I will probably not make it through the day because it is day-by-day and we all have to just try different things until we find what works for us--this is not a means to weight loss for me, just a good detox. But nevertheless, I think the best thing is finding what makes us happy and what we can do to change our bad habits. Like I said, tomorrow, I may be eating hummus with Summersalad................................I LUV HUMMUS!!!
Dinner was delicious at the Martins' house. Turkey, the entire Thanksgiving layout--they were so mice to go to so much trouble. It was great company and a very nice thought. But today, we are back to reality. Jamal is 10 pounds from his wrestling weight and the caliphers come out this week. He is back on weightloss, but he generally works off 3 pounds during conditioning. Glad karate testing is out of the way. LUV U GUYS

B-MO,
You are so funny!! You know on the web site there is a modified fast using juice and such. It brought to mind that several years ago we bought a Vita mix machine. It was/is great for soups and purees and smoothies and things. We were mostly consuming things like that and good home bread. We looked and felt SOOOOOO good. Why did we stop?? Because it was working and ya just can't have that! I'm thinking that now that I have control back of my kitchen I may bring some of those things back into play.
I'm glad you had a good time at the Martin's. At least that was how I interpreted "it was so MICE of them." lol.
Love to all

So, Summersalad...how is the single life today with DH out? Glad to hear you are regaining some control over the kitchen

I am enjoying the traditional hormonal no sleep/migraine before Aunt Flo comes to visit today, but surprisingly I'm not wildly hungry or craving like usual. I've made good choices so far today, but didn't get that first mini meal in until 9:30 this morning. Still trying for 5 of them today if I get in a bedtime snack that not cookies, LOL!

BTW, those salmon filets in a pouch...don't get them. I had one for lunch and my mouth tastes like the bottom of the ocean.

Going to grab a nap so I can catch up on phone calls/emails this afternoon.

Its terrible to be so happy to have my DH gone during the day. But here we are. DD and I made chicken soup this morning... mmmmmmmm it is full of mushrooms, brown rice, carrots, cabbage, neeps, green beans, and left it in the crock pot while we went to liturgy as we knew we'd be starving when we got home (fast before liturgy) She practiced her guitar, and finished her math, I did laundry, worked with DA on math stuff all before we left. We ate when we came home, mmmmmmmmm! There was extra prosphora so Father gave it to us, so we had that too. I finished DD's Duvet cover she finished Languid farts(her term). Did more laundry sand science songs with DA and cleaned the kitchen! I just can't seem to do all that when DH is here!!
Right now that nap sounds really good! DD and DA went with my sil, DD to guitar, and DA shopping So I have about a half hour to myself. Don't quite know what to do.
Jsun, I hope you feel better quick!!!!
B-MO, How are you holding up?? I keep wanting to tell you too that I didn't do the flush until day 2, so by that time I was ready for the change from sweet to salt and found it fine!!! Sort of broth like.
Oh, Jsun, I love Bob's Red Mill SOOOOOOOO much! I am getting things together here to make an order too. Although we are not yet out of sea salt lol
Love to all

Mmm...chicken soup. SOunds yummy!! I chose oats and a clementine for breakfast, the nasty salmon with yogurt and granola for lunch, and some lowfat popcorn for my afternoon snack. Dinner is "Moroccan Spiced Chickpea Soup" a la Dave Lieberman and cantelope with whole grain crusty rolls if I can find some at Panera. Need to come up with a bedtime snack. Maybe I'll have time to make some whole wheat pumpkin bread or muffins. I like eating all this!

Never did nap, but I'm feeling better. Must be the smell of the soup, a great combination of cinnamon, cumin, paprika, garlic and onions. I'm also going to crockpot it so it's ready for later. DH won't like it but...oh well! LOL! OK SUmmersalad, I give up...what are neeps? And do you add your rice to the soup before you put it in the crock? Precooked or raw?

Sounds like you had a great day. All that accomplished AND time to yourself? AWESOME!

OOPs! sorry, neeps are turnips. Its a Scottish thing, grew up eating neepr and tatties with Grandpa B. Turnips and potatoes.
OK, what are clementines?

Well girls are back. I think DD and I are going to remove the non- functioning dishwasher Never done this before, but what the heck, I've got tools...

Ok, this is how the first day of the lemoncleanse went:
I packed all my lemoncleanse up in my little canvas bag this morning--all excited--this was not only the first day of my diet revolution, but the day before I turned the big 4-9!!!!!!!! Yuppers, the day beore my birthday, one year before I turn the BIG 5-0! So, a life change is in order, right?

I get to work, surpised to see a balloon tied to my chair in my office saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! How sweet, the guys had remembered me, a nice birthday card on the desk. I start unpacking the first Day of the Rest of My Life supplies. I go to the fridge to put my drinking water for the day in it. Big Day, you know!!!! On the microwave above the fridge, there is a sign that reads once again, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLIE!!!!!" How sweet ARE these guys?????????????? On top of the microwave are two white boxes which have the oh-so-familiar smell of FATNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Two things that wreak of fay: the smells of vanilla and sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two bakery boxes with double-double chocolate chip cookies and another with pumpkin spice raisin cookies. And just to let you know, if you stack two of these on top of one another, they are so moist they taste like a piece of cake.
Tomorrow begins the diet revolution--tomorrow is a new day. I mean, I will be 49, what better time to begin my lemoncleanse, are you with me???????????????????

Summersalad, the Bob's Red Mill 10 grain pankcake/waffle mix makes GREAT pumpkin muffins! I followed a bisquick recipe subbing the mix, added pumpkin, egg, milk, raisins, spices and turbinado. YUMMY! Thanks for the validation I could use it that way!

Day 1 of whole grain goodness down!

Nicky, we thought you already WERE slim & sexy!!!!!! LOL!!!! Hey, what does this diet consist of? I don't think I have heard of this one and I thought that JSun & I were diet warriors. I wish I had a dollar for every pound I had lost and gained back. Cool--let us know how it is going.

ok, I keep asking my sister stupid questions about using spring water vs. purified water and finally she yelled at me in ALL CAPS that I was making this WAYYYYY too difficult. I guess subconsciously I am putting up roadblocks. She has already lost 20 pounds in less than 2 weeks and is now introducing raw veggies and fruits back into her diet. I told you, my sister is a Diet Soldier!!!!! She would eat a plate of crap if it meant losing weight. She is going to be Mom's Favorite this year. BOO HOO HOO!!!!! Jsun--Nikky (my daughter, not Nick "Z") looked at me and said EXACTLY what you said, "You mean diet, as in NO food at all--ARE YOU CRAZY?" Well, I am going to embark upon it again today--let's see what happens. Keep us posted on everyone's progress. Nicky, Tina said to tell you that if you were doing the Slim & Sexy, you were bringing sexy back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, just got an e-mail from the "Godfather"--no awards ceremony tonight--so we don't have to iron uniforms--it appears the building is not safe enough, and probably wayyyy too dusty. No green belt sparring either. I think we are shooting for getting back to class on Thursday night. He said to tell everyone you know in case they don't check their e-mails. Summersalad, how is the new diet going?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dearest Billie. Happy Birthday to you!!!! And Many, Many, Many more!!!!

I'm with you, A birthday means a new year AND a new start. My 45th was a wake up call!! Wake up NOW and do some thing about it or you won't be waking up and your kids are still young. "Is that what you want for them???? You go!! We're all in this together!!!!!!!

Nicky -- I'm so glad to have you here! I miss you. What is slim in six? and it is not fair to start off already that way!
I'm not sure I have a licence to feel this good. Do you know I jumped out of bed this morning at 6:00 drank my pint of water and went to the garage and did 55 min on the EFX. I'm so pumped!! DH had already finished his workout. I'll be darned if I am going to be the only super size in this house! Alright, now I also accomplished a ton of stuff yesterday that has been sitting here needing to be done. hmmmm, I know feeling better helps but (here we go again) I wonder if the temporary loss of the 296 lbs of male has any thing to do with it?
Oh well, Outside we go today, they say its going to get nasty tomorrow. My yard is a mess!!!

I'm prayin' for success for us all!!

Have super good day birthday girl!!!!

Love to all

Hey Summersalad!!!!
Tell DH not to get too upset because I told Nick Z that she was bringing sexy back too!!!!!!!!!LOL!!!!! How much has your DH lost now???????????? I barely knew who he was last time I saw him--he is doing awesome--he should be blogging too, except he isn't a MOM!!!!!!ahahahahahah. Perhaps he can let us know how he had lost like over 100 pounds in 3 months--how much is it??????????????

Your enthusiasm is so contagious---------now you got me wanting to get off my big a$$ and do something. I know what you mean, it isn't right that Nick Z gets to start off with like NEGATIVE 10 pounds to lose.

I think she is having a rough day today with all the construction and chaos of the renovation going on over at the school--maybe she will enlighten us today. I need to e-mail Barbie--she was actually asking me last night at wrestling practice about our "BLOG"! I need to send her the link. I thought I already had, but I need to send it.

This is great that everyone is motivating one another--this morning my kids convinced me not to start the diet until my birthday was over since they wanted to take me to Cosi's tonight for dinner--it is somewhat healthy--at least they have salads and soup. I guess that is the main thing--to be in the right frame of mind. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes--wait a minute yours was last week. Yeah, the Big 45 got you motivated, didn't it????

Anyone planning on going to the TKD tourney in Houston, the Hilton is ALREADY full and it is 5 months away!!!!!
LUV U GUYS!!!!!!

Whenever I was researching the lemonade fast (master cleanse), I suppose subconsciously I an trying to find a reason NOT to do it, I ran across this journal of someone who did it. It kinda give a day-by-day blow of what to expect. I realize this is not for everyone. I can see why, but out of curiosity more than anything else.......................this is so interesting:

If my sister finds out that her blow by blow was not enough for me, she will be major pissed. This lady really breaks it down.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLIE!!!

I can't say that I blame you not starting your cleanse today

I felt really good when I woke up this morning, having fueled my body really well yesterday. I had a small early breakfast, multitasked through 2 conference calls and drove downtown to witness ex DH's hearing. He is usually last on the docket so I went in at 10:30 for his 10:00 time. As soon as I sat down the judge ushered us out until 11. At 1:00 we were moved upstairs to another room and I finally walked out at 1:40. In case you were wondering, bond was set at $1K and the case was continued until Jan 16, after the new charges go to grand jury. I anticipate his release by the end of the week and an ensuing visitation disagreement. Since I had not eaten since 6:30 my body was screaming for food. I had nothing prepared at home, so this is where I get into trouble. Any way I can justify a burrito supreme and a taco as nutritional whole grain food? LOL!

It's OK. I'll skip my afternoon meal and go extra light on the dinner/bedtime meals today. That's what I mean about planning for me. Just doesn't happen!

Thanks Janet!!!!!!!!!
Well, it sounds like you burned enough calories just being ushered from courtroom to courtroom. Man, with that much stress how can you be expected to stick to anything? This time of the year is crazy--I mean, from Thanksgiving on out. BURRITO SUPREME--TACO!!!!!

My stress food is a Big Mac--I eat them about 2X a year. It is often following a disagreement with the Godfather!!!!! LOL!!! I don't know what it is, I guess that is why I try to choose my battles wisely--I am already fat enough--don't need anymore Big Mac Attacks than I can possibly get away with.

Ok, JSun--I just listened to my voicemail from last night--GREAT BIRTHDAY SONG!!!!!!!

IF that wasn't motivation, nothing was.

I have officially begun the lemoncleanse. Who knows how long it will last?

So, how is everyone else doing on this wonderful, beautiful hump day? How the heck are ya? HOw are the diets going?

I am already missing food--my old buddy. Let's see if I can wean myself little by little from it. Jsun, how is DJ doing???????

Summersalad, you get that dishwasher all hooked up? I have visions of you and DD wearing overalls and baseball caps turned around backwards tugging and lifting on the dishwasher.

Nicky Z, how's the school coming? Are you S&S/6 yet? Under all the stress from the chaos I would be F&S/1 (Fat&Stressed in 1 day)LOL!!!!!

B-MO --are you basking in the glow of being 49 and all fine?? I am so happy for you, starting the lemonade cleanse. Don't worry about weight loss!! Think about how good you will feel in a couple of days. Then decide what exercize is realistic and go for it!

I am just as pleased with DD as I can be! She has been pitching in and working so hard. It helps a lot. We did in fact remove the dishwasher. Then took it apart to see how it works. Surprisingly simple machine. Yesterday we expanded our horizons and worked in the yard. DD actually mowed all the grass. (no small feat) The best was when she got to the end and said "whew, Mom I never knew how hard you work when you do this." Some times its nice to have the appericiation. I weeded the jungle that used to be a nice flower garden before I was in charge of it. The rain today is a nice excuse to stay in though. DA has been requesting what she calls Yum, Crisp gringerbread cookies. And after talking with DD last night I realized the she does not know what carmel rolls are. That is to sad. I will remedy that today. Whole wheat and flax of course.
I started that Renw Life stuff today. We'll see what that is. Still feeling good since my fasting days. It was a great thing to do.
Jsun I am trying your small meal method. Hmmmm, seems like all you do is eat. Maybe not bad.
Love to all!

by summersalad (PM , CC ) on Wednesday November 15, 2006 @ 10:33 AM

well Summersalad, I think I am going to try this a few days--at least for the cleanse. I will probably pick back up on the Renew Life after 3 days or so rather than continue this for a week, I hate to be a wus but I don't know that the cayenne is going to agree with me. I really like the Renew Life much better and felt better whenever I used it. Did you guys get yours from Vitacost? Sooo much more inexpensive there than in the health food stores, particularly when you have more than one person in the house using it. I used the salt water cleanse this morning and though I would hurl! But nevertheless, I did it. The major thing for me is the inconvenience when running so much. I have to pack the lemon cocktail everywhere I go. I had a meeting this morning in Frankfort--my, that was fun. Immediately after work today, I have to run to J's first wrestling scrimmage. We will probably be there until around 7:00 or so. I am so jealous of you and JSun--where do you find the time to cook and bake? I am keeping my kids away from you guys--they will think I am the worst mother ever. I am going to start cooking and freezing a bunch of casseroles and such this weekend for Thanksgiving since the entire Fam is at my house, as usual. My biggest feat is going to get this house clean, and just in time for my Holiday MK Open House. Thank God, Mom gets Christmas. Does it EVER end, girls???
LUV U GUYS!!!!

B-MO, I think I didn't tell you I only used the pepper in some (maybe 3 in a day) of the lemonades. It is not what it says to do but it worked out fine. i also warmed them slightly and put it in my favorite coffee mug. In short, I made it some thing nice for my self. The process is after all for YOU. I think success is as much about mental attitude as anything. You give me soooo much encouragment. I am sure without you and Jsun I would still be a bloody mess. Thank you guys!!!!
I have time because well you know. Do you need any thing I could help you with?? I cook, I clean, I follow instructions (well sorta). Let me know.
I am always amazed by how much Jsun can manage at once. If I had to juggle all of it, Well, let me admit that I couldn't.

Keep up the good work!! It's what you keep telling me, you have to take time for you and take care of yourself.

Love to all

SUMMERSALAD, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS?????????? PARDON ME, BUT NONE OF US ON THIS BLOG FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS-------------------------That is why we all need each other to lasso us back to reality half the time.

I just ran to GFS during lunch and bought my turkey--rice, pasta, spices, and have about halfway decided my menu for Thanksgiving. So far, it is the basics, roasted turkey, dressing, a meatloaf (not everyone in my family likes turkey), green beans almondine, garlic mashed potatoes, cabbage rolls, and mac & cheese. I have three crockpots how -- I think in one I will have sweet and sour meatballs, in another one red beans and wil rice casserole; and in the third one buffalo wings (my brother loves mine). Everyone else can bring the deviled eggs, desserts, and bread. I am thinking about spinach brownies and turkey sausage puffs for appetizers. I love cooking if the house is in order, but it isn't right now. So, it will be wild--hopefully, the house will remain somewhat in tact for my open house. Oh, I need to get your mom a MK catalog--I will just stick it on your door.

Did you say "spinach brownies"????????
|<   <<   >>   >|

by summersalad (PM , CC ) on Wednesday November 15, 2006 @ 1:44 PM

well, Summersalad--they are just called "brownies" because you can bake and cut them like brownies. Here is the recipe--they are great appetizers:

1 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 stick melted margarine
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup minced onion
10 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
10 oz. cooked and squeezed chopped spinach.

Mix all ingredients. Place in a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. May be baked the day before and reheated. If batter is too loose, add flavored bread crumbs. Serves 8.

But I forgot about the milk thing!! Sorry! Maybe a soy substitute. These are so easy and everyone simply loves them.

Oh my! I go to Somerset for a day and come back to a ton of updates, LOL!

Billie, I am SO proud of you for starting the cleanse today ! You can do it! You can be the :Little Engine That Could"

Patricia, I am proud of you for all you and DD accomplished yesterday! You were really working hard when I got there!

You guys are cracking me up. I only have time to cook and bake because I have a flexible job right now...and I'm poor. Well, not really poor, but I know if I do what I want and eat out when we are pressed for time or not feeling like cooking I will find myself back in a distressful financial situation. No thank you. I will do what I have to do to stay far away from that! Besides, T will tell you Billie, that it's a phase. Remember all those nice lunches I started out the summer packing? I think like 6 weeks into the summer she was bringing her lunch, LOL!

As for the rest of the running...I figure there are a very few number of years my girls will rely on me (or want me to) cart them around. In about 4 more years Lexi will be driving and won't want me anywhere around. We take the time now that we have in the car as our connecting "girl time". Times like this weekend may be hectic, but when the lights go out at night it will just be the 3 of us, and we don't get that often And I am learning to rely more on DH, although still only in a situation where I can't be in 2 places at one time. J doesn't mind if he takes her/picks her up, but L prefers it be me. OTOH, L doesn't care if I drop her off places while J prefers I stay through practice. We usually get it worked out. L got moved up to the next level at swim team last night so the practices will all be in that 6:30-9PM range. It is good, because she can go to more practices if she wants and can attend after-school clubs without interruption, but bad because it makes for a very late evening and a very cranky girl in the morning...

I got the RenewLife at ROberts. Guess I'll have to check out the online place. But I've had no "issues" since I've been eating 5-6X a day and doing whole grains with lots of fruits and veggies. The last couple days it's been-something in/something out, LOL!

Billie those are obscene!!! It sounds like you all are having the standard Kentucky Thanksgiving. Do you make stuffing balls too?
We told my parents we couldn't come until afternoon, are you ready for this one??? We want time to work out before we go and don't want to get up to early to do it! Even DD asked if she could watch the Macy's parade while she was on the EFX. It's SICK I tell you, SICK!

Otherwise it's been a wonderful quiet day. I've been in the kitchen for most of it and helped DD build a castle and siege tower. As we speak the Vikings are invading the knights. DA helped me knead bread dough and helped with the castle and is now involved with storming the castle. It probably wouldn't be to bad if she would stop eating the peices

Billie, how did you do today??? Did you make it through the day? I cheering you on! RAH RAH SIS BOOM BAH!!!! Go Billie!!!
Love to all

Go Summersalad!!! I am impressed you will be working out before your Thanksgiving meal! I keep hearing the treadmill calling my name this morning...I might need to go check to make sure it's OK down there in the cold, dark basement.

B-Mo, how did you do yesterday? We are rooting for you!

My day was a bust. No time for breakfast, followed by a customer who wanted Mexican food for lunch followed by "Oh my goodness, can I make it home before my bowels explode?!" Subway sandwich for dinner (don't care for the new management down there)

So far so good this morning-Bob's RM 10 grain pancakes (2 small) with a little real maple syrup and a clementine. Not exactly diet food, but whole grain, LOL! I need to get back on the water track. Not drinking nearly enough.

DH is sick (again? still?) and I need to get L in this afternoon to see the Dr. Pesky sinus infections. Grr! I'm feeling great though!!!

Summersalad, we won't be able to come see DD get her much-deserved Sr Red belt tonight since our ceremony was reinstated for this evening. With DH down I have to shuffle the kids to swim practice and awards ceremony Please tell her how proud we are of her!!!

Love you guys!

Ok girls--it has been crazy. Summersalad was the warrior. But one day out and decided the lemoncleanse was not for me. My head hurt all day and then I had a stressor last night (hint: should have gone out for a Big Mac!) .

I guess I am just a wus. But nevertheless, with the motivation of you guys I am back on the Renew Life--which is really motivating in itself and I packed everyone's lunch of tuna in a pouch, two clementines, two small apples, a 60-calorie, fat free yoghurt, and baby carrots. I guess we would all do great on the lemoncleanse if we could stay home in a room by ourselves, not having to take care of anyone but ourselves and had people to do everything for us--concentrating solely on US! I don't see that happening for any of us. Maybe after the first of the year, but who knows. All I can say is, well.....I'm just wasn't feeling it.

I am so proud of DD!!!!!! Please make sure we get pics. Give her a big ole MO-Hug from us all.

Jsun, I can't believe the hubby is down again!!!!! Big ole pot of chicken w/rice soup with EXTRA garlic is just the ticket--for L's sinus infection too!!!!!

I am with you on the new management at the Subway--can you say, "bad attitude"?

Last night was Wonder Boy's first westling scrimmage, along with Mr. M, and Mr. W., all wrestling for TCHS . "J-Pod" is also wrestling for HCHS this year. They were all there at TCHS last night. Mr. M hurt his leg and was unable to wrestle. Mr. W won a match. I am not sure about J-Pod--he is a first year wrestler. Wonder Boy is doing great this year--he won all 4 of his matches!!! They are all doing great this year--you can really see the improvement since last year. J-Mo is thinking about getting on the Boxing team at UK next Fall since they don't have a wrestling team. I think it is great for him to explore a lot of options. I just don't want him getting that cute face messed up! LOL

I am thinking of getting the kids out of town this weekend--with our crazy schedule we need a break--T doesn't get home every night until 6:30 from work, Wonder Boy gets out of wrestling practice every night at 6:30. By then, it is homework, dinner, and if we are lucky bed by midnight. Thank God there has been no karate this week--I don't know what we would have done.

I am thinking about maybe taking the kids to Jenny Wiley State Park and getting a cabin for a night or two-taking the dawgs and all. We have not gotten home one night this week until at least 10:00, with the exception of last night--it was great to be home by 7:30, just in time to start getting uniforms ready the ceremony tonight. I have boxes of work I was supposed to get done this week and I am sure I will have to take it with us this weekend just to get it done. And then planning for Thanksgiving--Calgon Take Me Away!!!!!!! Take us ALL away!!!!!!

It is so great keeping us this way with what everyone is doing--I don't have to miss you guys so much now!!!! LUV YA

Billie, oh Billie, Where are you????

OK --- I've been thinking. I've watched DH lose 105lbs. He worked him butt off (litterally)and changed what he ate more than how much he ate. We talked this morning and his loss has slowed. Which is to be expected. Since with the new time constraints. Welcome to the real world. Ugggh. He can't up his mileage. He was doing about 50 miles a week. He is going to have to cut back some in order to continue to lose. That's where he is. Now I'm in a different spot. I am trying to start over again. No, let me say that another way. I AM *starting* now. My head is better put together. But I wonder if a new way of thinking is also in order. What if a person were to say make sure that every day they did the best workout they were capable of? Eat a whole grain life style. Then left the worry about weight loss behind. At least until exercise and eating were immoveably in place?? Would that remove that stress/obsticle that seems to hang me up?

Jsun -- Did you check on that lonely tread mill? I think it needs a light, a radio, and some company. DD is disappointed that you all won't be there. But that's OK. You know this Renew life is interesting. I'm just struggleing with the, beg your pardon, mucus and goo in respiratory track. Hope that doesn't continue to escalate!

Love to all

First of all, before I forget it--here is a great website that clones some of the best restaurants.

http://www.topsecretrecipes.com/home.asp?

Secondly, Summersalad, that was the first thing that T-Mo and I both noticed was the increased flow of the sinuses. She was just sitting there one day and it began running down her face with no warning.

Poor hubby!!!! Well, it is to be expected--he has done so great this far--he is an inspiration--I need to find a source of exercise. I need to find some time--I guess the best thing to do would be invest in a piece of equipment since it would have to be in the middle of the night---LOL!!!!! But I am sure that is my biggest obstacle. Running to meetings and keeping my army moving does not constitute exercise.

I just have to stop moving long enough to get my head adjusted and see where I am at. Today I am trying to work in getting my invitations for my after-Thanksgiving Open House. I have a couple of people that want to schedule holiday makeovers and order gift baskets, so I am really happy about that. I just hope the house holds up after it gets cleaned before Thanksgiving!!!LOL!!!!

Hello, (echo back I fear)
Is any body out there????
It's going to be a gorgeous day! Cold but nice.
Last night was awards. DD finally recieved her sr. red! She is very excited! Anf thrilled because she can work to get her black belt with out waiting! After this much time in Red I don't blame her!! The new forms are going to be fun. A headache at first I imagine, but I think I like this change. How does RL feel about it? T-MO and J-MO? Nicky are you here too?? What do you think??
Jsun and B-mo, How long does this running nose thing go on??? It like to drive me insane.
Love to all

Hey, girlfriend!!!!!
I think they are going to be ok with it. Once they learn them all, everything will probably fall into place. They are troopers, whatever is best. It is always exciting to learn something new and different.

The runny nose is a good sign, I believe. Toxins come from the weirdest places LOL!!!!

We are so excited for "D". I know she is so happy--T-MO went through almost the same thing, as you know. She had 3 cycles where she was so apprehensive about board-breaking. 3 in a row--no one ever believes me when I tell them that. She broke everytime in class, but once it came time to test, she just froze up--I guess because it is something that they get all worked up over -- it is so important to them. Perhaps that is a good thing. I think working hard for something makes it so much more special. I am sure that is why my kids have been in karate for such a long time. After you get to the point that you are confident about your ability, you look back at how hard you worked and trained to get where you are, the things you have given up in order to make karate a priority, and it is such an investment. It teaches them a good lesson in life too.

Good morning, Ladies!!! How cool was it to wake up to big fluffy flakes of snow?! Too bad it's not going to amount to anything...

I'm back from the land of the lost, LOL! (as if you'd all been waiting with bated breath!) Sorry I've been non-responsive since Thursday. I got the rental car Friday morning, had a jam-packed day with work, then drove to Louisville after all the extracurriculars.

L and J both had awesome meets this weekend! L once again met or exceeded her personal best times in all events. J only swam 3 events on Saturday, but the highlight of her meet was taking 5 seconds off her 25 free time We had some challenges with the hotel (Extended Stay AMerica), but what do you want for priceline.com $35 name-your-own-price?
